北京青年報報導，本身也是地產大亨的川普（Donald Trump）早在2006年就以英文名「TRUMP」及中文名「川普」或「特朗普」在大陸註冊商標。
當時他準備以英文「TRUMP」向中國大陸國家工商行政管理總局商標局申請作為商標時，卻發現已被別人搶註。為了爭奪商標權，川普去年在北京提告大陸國家工商總局商標評審委員會。
根據中國裁判文書網2015年8月26日公布的相關行政判決書，指出川普提出申請的十幾天前，已有人提出「Trump」申請，兩者的字母構成和呼叫方式一致，商標使用範圍也類似。
雖然川普方面認為，另一方未經同意就使用了他的名字為商標，「損害他人姓名權」，但商標評審委員會不予審理。
2015年5月18日，北京高院對此案作出終審判決，認為商評委作出的決定認定事實清楚、適用法律正確，法院判決維持商評委的決定。
報導指出，川普在大陸申請商標的記錄共有82個，其中有效商標數為78個，商標名稱除了「TRUMP」，還有「唐納德．川普」、「川普」、「川普國際高爾夫俱樂部」、「川普廣場」、「川普國際酒店大廈」等，涉及保險、金融、教育等多個產業。 1051115
